Amberley walk - Saturday 18 May 2019 Previous Next Amberley War Memorial, ready for Ann's walk We set off towards Houndscroft where the cows have recently been allowed out on to the common We pass below one of the houses on the converted Amberley Ridge site And walk below the Bear We descend a path, where these horses are working for the National Trust eating vegetation to benefit wild flowers Views over the Brimscombe valley Looking ahead on Butterow Lane We cross the railway line. Our visitor has come from Durban, South Africa. Beautiful hawthorn blossom The first people wait on the bridge And look along the canal Where work is going on We're told that a steam train will be passing so we wait while having coffee for the Clun Castle Which passes very rapidly There are lots of people scattered about trying to catch sight of it We continue along the canal. There's a major amount of work to do to clear ahead And behind us We head uphill and pass Bownham Common Where many admire the alliums in this garden Cat unfazed by all these walkers Beautiful flowering shrubs on our way to Brimscombe Hill Up on to the golf course Where Highland cattle are out We walk through the buttercups towards Amberley Past a herd of cows Where one youngster is getting a good wash Very thorough Photos, captions and uploading by Sally
