Arlingham walk - Saturday 19 August 2017 Previous Next These boat people certainly get their priorities right But ignoring the temptation we prepare to follow Andrew on his walk We head off along the canal passing many colourful boats Some on the move in the morning sunshine Leaving the canal we head down the road Continuing up a narrow track Note to leaders :- Allow an extra 10 minutes at this time of year For fruit picking We soon reach the banks of the Severn A good crop of crab apples Strung out along the river bank Under a watchful eye Fretherne Church across the fields Tides out More fruit picking, damsons this time - better add an extra 20 minutes to the walk Andrew explains that our path takes us through the middle of that herd of cows We pass them, keeping a watchful eye Looking back down the Severn But what is this? Ann demonstrates Oh no, more blackberries Better add 30 minutes to the walk time Carrying electricity across the Severn Looking across to Bullo Pill And to Callow Pill with Newnham in the background Arlingham Passage restaurant - nice fish and chips Customer arriving for lunch Another view over the river to the Forest As we continue along the bank Garden Cliffs now across the river Approaching Upper Framilode House with its own coat of arms We turn onto the old canal towpath Mum teaching her children to find food As we continue along the canal Back to Saul Junction Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
