Ashleworth walk - Wednesday 24 October 2018 Previous Next We're in Ashleworth On the village green by the Preaching Cross A good turnout for the last walk Enid is going to lead We pass this shelter After a short climb we look back on the church which we will visit later The views are stunning In all directions And the sky is blue Then we head up through a wood Posing on the horizon Lots of colour in this garden A deer farm below A very small squirrel - will he survive the winter? We come down to the River Severn In elvering country It's idyllic Understandably it's known as Caterpillar Hill We stop in the pub garden Of the Boat Inn where a ferry used to cross the Severn to Sandhurst With an appropriate weather vane Then we visit the medieval Tithe Barn Where Jill tells us of its history over a strange stile And we head for the church where the Churchwarden, an ex-colleague of Brian's, tells us about the history We see the Saxon herringbone brickwork And a casket And the stained glass windows And we're back in Ashleworth where the pub is now a family home.
