Ashleworth walk - Wednesday 24 October 2018 Previous Next We're in Ashleworth A good turnout for the last walk Enid is going to lead After a short climb we look back on the church which we will visit later In all directions Then we head up through a wood Lots of colour in this garden A very small squirrel - will he survive the winter? In elvering country Understandably it's known as Caterpillar Hill Of the Boat Inn where a ferry used to cross the Severn to Sandhurst Then we visit the medieval Tithe Barn over a strange stile We see the Saxon herringbone brickwork And the stained glass windows On the village green by the Preaching Cross We pass this shelter The views are stunning And the sky is blue Posing on the horizon A deer farm below We come down to the River Severn It's idyllic We stop in the pub garden With an appropriate weather vane Where Jill tells us of its history And we head for the church where the Churchwarden, an ex-colleague of Brian's, tells us about the history And a casket And we're back in Ashleworth where the pub is now a family home.
