Avening walk - Wednesday 14 June 2017 Previous Next John is very pleased with his stick that Keith has repaired (see Previous walk photos) Stuffed between the cars, he explains his walk We head out of Avening and soon get views across to Gatcombe Across fields Minchinhampton the other side of the valley We're pleased to be in woods on this hot day Though there is mud Patrick doing a good job as back marker Meadows of wild flowers We cross the road by the Weighbridge And head past Longford Mill And the rest of the development Coffee in the shade John is ready to move on A tricky stream to cross Ros makes it As do Mike and Janet And finally the back marker - no incidents A queue at an awkward stile Jean spots a Roman snail on the wall More wild flowers Single file uphill Looking down on Box Interesting feature Minch church and former workhouse These orchids are in the wild area of someone's garden Single file downhill To Bubblewell and its cannon Highland cattle in the shed.
