Bath walk - Saturday 28 December 2019 Previous Next All From the car park Derek leads us out onto the Kennet and Avon Canal Must be Christmas And this house has got a new landing stage We stride out along the tow path Well some get left behind - don't even notice the cyclist Clever alteration to the boat name Getting up steam Somewhere there will be 2 bikes without wheels A wooden bridge Boats lined up along the canal In both directions While a bunch of bewildered ramblers wait patiently on the towpath Some strange excavations going on there The Bath skyline, terraces of houses reaching up the hill Another canal scene The bridge from the other side We climb steps to cross to the other bank Where the barges are lined up Everybody deep in conversation More boat decorations We are being watched A system of locks Old pump monument And the pump shed Continuing along the canal Marking 200 years of the canal Locks which take the canal into the river Which we briefly walk along Taking in the beauty of Bath As we go under another bridge Approaching Pulteney Bridge and Weir The Cathedral behind the trees A quick look at the Rec Looking down the weir And the not so familiar rear of the shops on bridge Another rambler The shop we all want to use As we meet up for our return Past the Holborne Through Stanley Park to the canal Boat's cat Strange pigs Another use for a bit of waste land which we pass on our way back Photos and captions by Richard, uploaded by Sally
