Bourton on the Hill walk - Saturday 28 April 2018 Previous Next They make you welcome in Bourton on the Hill As does Andrew And a special welcome today for some visitors who have come by train from London Our route takes us towards Batsford Arboretum Then uphill Over the top To look down on Blockley Afraid this is sheep country As well as ducks, cats and children Now in Blockley The village spring My kind of cat On through the village Past the old bank - long time since they were troubled by quantitative easing Large house up in the woods Striding uphill now Then finally downhill towards a farm And a cottage which has seen better days Continuing on our way Through bluebell woods Blackthorn in the hedgerows As we look across the rolling countryside to leaden hills A pause for lunch Then following a very muddy path To a road Near Hinchwick Manor As we climb uphill we pass a monument to Hase and Michael Asquith With a short poem by William Blake on the reverse A downhill bit Then up - on steps if required More sheep now as we cross the top of the hill And a racing yard in the distance Back into woods Spring leaves bursting through Then heading downhill into Longborough White bluebells Village church behind the trees Then following a path Towards Sezincote The garden pond And the Manor A short walk across fields brings us back to Bourton on the Hill Photos and captions by Richard, uploaded by Sally
