Brookend walk - Saturday 23 July 2016 Previous Next Ray meets us on his freshly manicured lawn And we head off en masse to start our walk Our leader claims that this house is haunted Another telephone box library A short stretch of road Then a recently mown hay field With bales of hay waiting to be taken to the farm One of the many stiles By a murky pond The pigs are watching us As we watch the pigs A bit of insect repellent is called for A motley crew I really wanted to be a zebra Must be wash day at the nearby stables Making our way through horse paddocks And another form of stile A pause before Heading to the canal Where we stop for lunch Then continue along the tow path Serendipity steaming past A sculpture on the canal path And the waterway quite busy A canal boat tied up and owners relaxing on the shore Nice name for a boat At Purton we cross over Past the church And up the only hill on the walk With views back over the Severn Continuing on we can see the wind turbine at Sharpness Before a final struggle through a field of maize brings us back to the start Photos and captions by Richard, processed by Sally and uploaded by Mike
