Castle Combe walk - Saturday 13 August 2016 Previous Next Nine of us on Ray's walk. It starts to rain so we prepare ourselves but it only lasts a couple of minutes Then we're walking beside ...... the Bybrook that we have just crossed A heron leads us on, stopping on branches then moving on Easy walking here The stream looks very clear In Ford, Brian dons the hi-viz to back mark along a short stretch of road Then we turn off, cross this bridge And have coffee at an idyllic spot The engineer checks this out We're briefly on the Palladian Way A few linseed flowers from a previous year's crop Through a small hamlet And into North Wraxall Houses on the hillside We follow this quiet road And have lunch at North Wraxall Church With its window Ray starts to gather everyone together We discuss whether this is a thistle or an artichoke Not long after 2pm we return to Castle Combe village And walk up the main street Past these lovely hanging baskets And enjoy a well-earned drink in the shade Or, for some, in the sun.
