Castle Combe walk - Saturday 20 January 2018 Previous Next No prizes for guessing who is here today. Castle Combe CP. Graham today's leader Leaving the road we have new hazards to face At least we are on a good tree-lined path Looking down on the valley A smallholding with geese below An old cottage being renovated Starting to head uphill Can see where everything gets dumped The church at Biddestone The village pump And the village green Where we settle down for coffee Under the watchful eyes of the ducks Round here they clean up after their ponies More watchful eyes in that window A closer look at the pump as we continue our walk Still a murky day A pause to pass the time of day Before heading downhill Culminating in some difficult steps We arrive at a river Which briefly follows our path Through Slaughterford - another New Year's resolution forgotten about The remains of the Rag Mill More info Still on the river Some of our Wiltshire friends stop for a photo on the beach Then we begin a long uphill climb Gate has seen better days A pause as we reach the top Where we cross a road And head steeply downhill To reach North Wraxall On the hilltop across the valley Climbing uphill into the village Where we stop for lunch at the church Leaving North Wraxall our path takes us over this stile And round the top of another valley Following a wide track Downhill again To pick up the road Into Castle Combe Where we walk up the main street Past the war memorial And back to the cars Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
