Cleeve Common walk - Saturday 10 June 2017 Previous Next Idsall Drive car park in Prestbury for Sally and Keith's walk. We gather at the memorial Then walk through Noverton And ascend gradually We're fascinated by hundreds of one-person brand new matching tents being set up And posh showers and mirrors After much speculation as to what this is (see below), we carry on Past these friendly horses And on to the Cotswold Way We stop for coffee on the Sabrina Way Poppies and other wild flowers in this set-aside field margin Keith is fascinated by this burnt-out Suzuki There's a bramble growing out of the petrol tank We head towards Wontley Farm Then turn off what was the Cotswold Way onto the Winchcombe Way A very windswept group photo by the iconic windswept tree Then head across the common for some shelter for lunch John manages to sit on his 55 year old stick and break it. (His first disaster of the day). Keith takes it home to mend it for him Not too many stiles today John's second disaster - he opens a gate which falls apart and which we tie up with string. (His third is No Cream in the Plough at the end) Heading down towards Prestbury Past some very shorn sheep John seems happy with his makeshift stick that Alex finds for him. Photos by Peter, captions, processing and uploading by Sally Peter and Sue later find out that this is the overnight stop for a 2 day marathon Race for the Tower from Gloucester to Broadway Tower
