Dursley walk - Saturday 5 May 2018 Previous Next Richard discovers he's left his camera memory card behind so it's me doing the photos Not an auspicious start We're outside the Kingshill pub - is it a going concern? We go through a farm where Alan tells us the owner does not Welcome Walkers A climb and we emerge To cross Stinchcombe Golf course In little groups Early purple orchid Oil seed rape the crop to grow here. We follow a contour path Then a clearly marked way through the rape below the Tyndale Monument North Nibley church on the horizon Someone saw an opportunity A "Letters Box" - I thought I was pedantic! Not the police, but dressed to confuse We pass the Black Horse The last time I came up here you did have to pick up a key They eventually make it to the top At the Monument we stop for lunch, though a labrador has one of Mike's sandwiches After lunch we descend below the monument Through the farm that used to host the massive North Nibley Steam Show He's not so super now An interesting topiary The school has got to make use of the pencils, now everything has gone hi-tech North Nibley church And the lovely house adjacent Listed Inside the church I took this picture of lichen on the church wall while waiting for the loo Through fields of horses, this one with an attractive colour scheme It's very hot and humid and the hill is steep so I conserve my photographic energy until we reach the top Where we are back on Stinchcombe Golf course Waiting in the shade A good view over Dursley And Cam Peak with a bluish tint Photos, captions and uploading by Sally
