Frampton Mansell walk - Wednesday 21 February 2018 Previous Next Jill & Sue in charge. Jill to lead off Looking across the valley to Oakridge Today's snowdrop photo Safely crossing a rather dangerous stretch of railway line Sun shining down into the valley Horses alert and ready to go A little bit muddy down here Now following the canal Which stretches out behind us Paths everywhere As we head up the Sapperton Valley The River Frome also keeping us company Your guess is as good as mine We reach the Daneway Portal Pausing on top Before heading uphill towards Sapperton Looking across the valley A long steady climb Pausing as we reach the village Before continuing along the street Into a narrow lane Garden peas? Yes. Garden eggs? Who is this Mrs Rock? Coffee is taken on the village green Then our path crosses fields And into Hailey Wood A long track disappearing into the distance Muddy in places Catkins Kings Reach And the other end of the old canal tunnel where we stop for lunch The appropriately named Tunnel House Inn Off we go again over an old stone slab stile Through Tarlton And across more fields Imposing trees This one has seen better days Carefully picking our way round a waterlogged lane Not much sign of a footpath but we are on the right track That's what happens when you walk in front of the leader Once more over the A417 The cars now in sight Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
