Friday 22 September 2017 - South West of Guernsey coast path Previous Next Today's walk begins where we started on Monday but now we head west from Le Bourg Past the Occupation Museum And down to the coast Continuing downhill A rocky headland in front Soon walking along the top of the cliff Looking back the way we have come Posing for a group photo A yacht in full sail out on the water And some roses Another Martello tower on the cliff top As we follow a good path Sometimes uphill We pause to look up At a German WW2 version of a Martello tower Looking down Good enough to eat Leader checking on the stragglers Spot the fisherman Mont Herault watch house Ponies grazing on the clifftops Another WW2 observation tower Which we climb up to The view from inside More cliff top walking As we pass this splendidly restored gun Something the Germans left behind Sorry, more mushrooms Lighthouse guarding some dangerous rocks This boat got past safely Lihou Island now in view We stop for Sam to tell us about La Table des Pions A stopping point linked to the Guernsey tradition of Chevaushee Continuing along the coast road heading for the bus We take our last look at the Island And bid a fond farewell to the Guernsey coastline before our last night in the hotel and return to England Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
