Gloucester walk - Saturday 14 December 2019 Previous Next All We assemble at Rea Bridge for John's mince pie walk Following the canal we are soon going under the new bridge Canoeists out The dry dock Continuing Past fishermen Looking back along the canal We walk through the housing estate where we are joined by John and Cheryl Lots of apartments being built We navigate the marina Cranes on the skyline Gloucester Cathedral visible Graffiti Done well We're in the docks area Passing Llanthony Secunda Priory which we will return to later The old lightship We finish up near Wetherspoons for our 45 minute break Now leaving Gloucester And passing the Priory We follow the Glevum Way below the old rubbish dump John leading us on Flooded fields Chatting at the back But we make good progress In Hempsted you can choose between a Liqueur Competition in the Village Hall ..... or the Nativity Early 15th century stone cross, the shaft of which was found buried in Hempsted churchyard We return alongside the River Severn which is very full and flowing fast for mince pies and port.
