Gozo - Day 1 Previous Next Leaving our hotel we look back to the harbour The old fort in front of us on the hillside Climbing the hill we cross a bridge built by the British Peter bringing up the rear One of many building used as shelters while trapping migrating birds Pausing to take in the view Of the towering cliffs Wide expanses of wildflowers These are French honeysuckle Wild sorrel. Lots of different yellow wildflowers on the island More coastal views As we make our way along the cliff top Then uphill Soon picking up a broad track With views back along the coast And more towering cliffs Shortly reaching the town of Sannat Typical stone wall which we find on Gozo Mallow Statue of 3 generations of farm workers holding traditional ploughs at Ta Cenc Note the precise fine Continuing through Sannet Oh no! More coastal walking with the town of Nadur inland As we look down on the straits between Gozo and Comino Ashphodel The ferry returning from Malta And yet another flower - not indigenous Heading down into a bay A pause half way down Chance for some to get their feet wet And a small cafe for coffee Before we continue back up A last look down at the beach The Mgarr ix - Xini coastal tower Still on the coast Past some unusual rock formations Which Peter explores a bit closer Comino and Malta now in view A lizard Terraces of stocks A short climb Prickly pears And more coast views As we continue along the cliffs An old fortress And a bit of modern art on a traffic island heading into Mgarr Group photo A reminder that Easter approaches As we enter Bethlehem A replica village?
