Gozo - Day 2 Previous Next Commotion outside our hotel at breakfast as a concrete mixer blocks the road to start working on a building after a 2 year delay The striking view from our hotel room window Today we walk uphill from our hotel past this rock face eith It-Toqba Ta'Krista - cavity of Jesus Christ to you and me A herd of goats scramble up the hillside Where the women do the family washing - would go down well in Stroud Pretty garden Looking back down to the coast Plenty of agriculture round here And strange plants Even Bananas A sad reminder of the local sport of hunting migrating birds Now in Kercem - lovely balconies Interesting number plate And road sign Looking inland Colourful windows A line of date palms As we head along the road More strange vegetation and Ramblers Views out to sea The only pond on the island Cliff tops with bird shooting shelters The path meanders on Paths on Gozo are in good condition Blue and white and yellow and red flowers And of course stunning coastal scenery Slightly different flowers Following in line astern Round a lagoon And along a rough path The yellow wildflowers disappear and are replaced by purple ones To another fort, the Dwejra Tower - built 1652 Where we look down on the inland sea And other views And open top buses visiting the Azure Window - no longer there, destroyed in a storm Taking photos of ourselves for the leaders' page? But the wind is a bit strong Although the background is striking And we all manage a smile Or at least a grimace Last one Looking down the coast Before heading down to the inland sea for lunch The waves coming in And you can see right through Heading uphill More towering cliffs And a different view back along the coast Our path passing under sandstone cliffs Pausing when we reach the top Our destination, San Lawrence, on the horizon Or have we come to the wrong place?
