Gozo - Day 4 Previous Next Today's walk starts from Victoria, capital of Gozo, where strange trees grow No comment! We walk up the road to the Citadel Which towers over the town Getting out into the country We are reminded that this was once part of the Empire Soon reaching the small town of Ghasri Crossing a small river That must be Ta Ghammar The church in front of us We pause in front of the police station Wonder if that would pass its MOT Continuing through Ghasri Reaching the Church at Zebbug With its splendid approach Statues Mosaics Of Bible stories Abstracts on the back EU-funded, it says on the sign Another statue of a farmer The face very expressive The bridge over the Wied Ksajje Not much sign of the river Still in the town With its ancient buildings And football supporters Net curtains - another "in-joke", revealed in the next newsletter! We continue down to the sea Different wildflowers The replacement for the Azure Window Walking along the cliff tops On a wide track We reach a narrow inlet Another lizard Pebbles underfoot Chance for a dip Sally holding the rock up As we pause for lunch and to get the energy to go back up the steps Looking down on the inlet Then heading back along the cliffs Salt flats and other strange structures Stretching out before us Sandstone cliffs hollowed out to make shelters Salt forming Peter taking a photo Fossil in the rock At work in the salt pans Il Bajja fortress in the distance So much for man's best friend And man's most popular pastime As we head into Marsalforn and the end of our walk Photos and captions by Richard and Sally, uploaded by Sally
