Kilkenny walk - Saturday 11 August 2018 Previous Next Kilkenny Viewpoint car park - Enid in charge We follow a wide track along the side of a field Straw gathered in for winter bedding and fodder Continuing on our way Into Dowdeswell where Jill fills us in on some of the local history The manor house And the well A row of cottages John on the losing side? A short road walk Across a field recently cropped And then one left fallow The view down into the valley A steep downhill slope Arriving at the church where they are getting ready for a wedding Jill now fills us in on the history of the church As we stop for coffee They are doing a grand job Our route now takes us past this sculpture And an unusual structure to a large house A chance to pick blackberries And look back at Dowdeswell Church Crossing fields we approach a farm Where we spot some ancient farm machinery Through the farmyard Then heading uphill Looking across to the Malverns And to Cleeve Hill Pausing as we enter Lineover Woods Then uphill A herd of cattle cross our path A straggler Now in a field of sheep A handy gate to lean on Past St. Paul's Epistle - ancient burial mound - probably used when beating the bounds St. Paul's mobile phone mast Back to the start Photos and captions by Richard, uploaded by Sally
