King Stanley walk - Saturday 28 July 2018 Previous Next Before Alex kicks off, Sally tells us about Denys's son who is doing a charity swim We set off across fields on the Cotswold Way Round a field of maize Pausing at the point where the two arms of the Cotswold Way meet then taking the Selsley path View over to Doverow and Standish Woods And back to the Stanleys As we head up to the top Views over the Severn And down into the valley Heading towards Selsley Church The back markers coming down the hill Waiting at the bottom Continuing on the Cotswold Way Towards the by-pass Then over to Ebley Mill Across the canal To Victory Park for coffee Ready to go again Through Cashes Green And up to Bread Street and Ruscombe Then downhill again And back up through Whiteshill Views down the valley to Frocester Hill and Cam Long Down Before our lunch stop and a chance to buy coffee at the village store Off again and round the pond in the valley Olivia demonstrates the fact that she can get through a narrow stile While Alex picks blackberries We approach Randwick across a cricket pitch Heading down towards Randwick School We might make some friends here Thought skylarks were an endangered species Through the church yard And up a steep hill into Randwick Woods A bit of a play area Out of the woods and looking down into the murky valley Stonehouse immediately below A queue forms for a slab stile And we make our way down to Far Westrip Farm A good crop of youngsters Views across to Kingscourt and Rodborough Common. Then through the middle of a field of maize And over the top of Doverow to the vineyard On the Cotswold Way under the Wycliffe College bridge Down to the canal Still on the Cotswold Way Towards Kings Stanley Waiting to greet us As we head into the village Photos and captions by Richard, uploaded by Sally
