Leighterton walk - Saturday 24 June 2017 Previous Next Ann is ready to go but can't make herself heard above the noise of traffic So we go round the corner where things are a bit quieter Our nice concrete drive soon comes to an end with a slab stile Taking us into a field We are obviously in equestrian country David Austin roses - Wild Edric, nonetheless - very fragrant A pause as we make our way round another paddock Peter busy with his secateurs as we wait at another stile Leading to a field of wheat Threatening? No quite friendly really On to St Arild's Church for a stop And a look inside Under way again and we meet a friendly horse An old milestone by the road in Didmarton Continuing across fields Round a field of barley Tractor tracks stretching across Now on a bridle path as we encounter a horse and rider The outskirts of Sopworth Where we are treated to a fly past of our airforce Stunning photo Mallow A herd of killer sheep to negotiate Followed by a flock of killer chickens Then we find ourselves on a good track Some of our group want to wait until they become butterflies (Sue J finds out they are Cinnebar moths) Forlorn looks from a dog kennels Just like home Into the Arboretum. Graham pointing out the interesting trees. This is Cornus drummondii (Dogwood) Time for lunch on the grass Or find a suitable tree We continue through the Arboretum Ending up on a very overgrown path And back to the stud farm On a grassy track Which takes us back to the cars Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
