Longney walk - Wednesday 28 June 2017 Previous Next Not a good day weatherwise but a strong turnout for Allen's walk As we head off along the road Before taking to a farm track Then round the edge of a field Weather-beaten but colourful An old farmhouse typical of the area Continuing on a grassy track To the canal The fishermen of England Still on the canal Past a bridge keeper's cottage We leave the canal On another farm track Views across the valley Long grass proving a bit damp Some birds of prey prove a distraction As they glower at us from their perches Then we head off through some dense undergrowth A thatched cottage Reaching the banks of the Severn - an old barge beached on the other side But what's this coming? Yes, it's a mini Severn Bore Which we stand and watch Before continuing along the river Until the tower of Longney Church tells us that we are nearly back to the start Could have been meant for us Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
