Mike's Guernsey Holiday Photos 16-22 September 2017 Previous Next On arrival day Sam, our leader, takes us on a little tour after lunch Downhill we go To St Peter Port centre, Prince Albert keeping an eye on the traffic 60 years of something? Been shopping, and some kind person snaps us both Fancy a life on the ocean wave? Our first walk proper around the less hilly north Richard decides he'd rather ramble than captain this boat Most people have a rest At our lunchtime Including Sam and Lenneke On our Sark visit, after Sam takes us to the other end of the island. Heather and I decide to go exploring We see the Pilcher monument And the island of Brecqhou We head down the path To get a closer view Herm on the skyline Apparently someone rich lives there At the foot of the cliffs is a Ramsar area of wetland (Google it - a very interesting subject) Not much traffic today The odd bike No cars at all Another day and a little exploration of the Pandora Hotel's garden Running down the hillside With distant sea views Have you got my better side? An oasis of peace Thursday's inland walk lunch spot near St Saviours All kinds of perches in the field A distant view of Lihou island On the last full day we decide to sample Herm, having heard so much about it. So off we go down to Marks and Sparks To once again stock up for lunch As with the rest of the group, some dolphins come near to the boat And I manage to snap the fin of one of them St Peter Port getting smaller Nearly there We disembark at the Harbour And set off around the hillier end of the island A last glimpse of the ferry Up we go A superb day Encouraging the butterflies Great scenery Is that me? A sea monster perhaps? And delightful beaches And another We reach Sand Bay Could be abroad Well I suppose it is We head across the sandy part of the other end of the island Not sure what this is?
