Miserden walk - Saturday 28 May 2016 Previous Next Map and GPS at the ready, Ann prepares to leave the car park of the Carpenters Arms And we head off down into the Miserden Estate Past sheep looking for shade Reaching the bottom of the valley Where forestry work is much in evidence We cross a ford and head uphill Past a dog kennels? No a canine hydrotherapy centre More sheep grazing As we continue along a tarmac road A game bird breeding facility And fields of rape Wayside flowers Heading towards Wishanger Where they still have their own bank Gateway to Wishanger House - once an abbey The main house And a small cottage in the village Crossing a field we pause for lunch Then tackle a field of rape Where we are in danger of losing some of our shorter members Now into The Camp More cottages Then down into the woods And on into the Dillay Valley More wild flowers As we follow a wide track Before heading down to cross the Dillay Stream And up the other side The view down the valley Now in Nottingham Wood Negotiating a stile And making our way over to Honeycombe Farm With its dovecote Soon passing the familiar tower of Miserden Church as we make our way back to the pub for lunch.
