Miserden walk - Wednesday 25 April 2018 Previous Next We set off from the Carpenters Arms Colin finds a Roman snail We cross a field and head downhill Into the wood Then out where the pheasants are being reared Leader Richard waits for everyone Then we head down into the valley Everywhere very green Blackthorn looking lovely There IS mud though Last year's maize crop with fifty shades of green in the background Heading towards Caudle Green People gather round Because we are celebrating National Fruitcake Day (December 27th), somewhat delayed by the snow on 2 occasions Cake seems to be going down well But black clouds are threatening and camera goes away Later we emerge from the woods into sunnier conditions And round the field Richard checks his Satmap We're about to descend a slippery path A colourful picture A large tree to negotiate And some have made it to the bottom The bluebells are stunning (we wouldn't have had those on December 27th!) Swathes of them and wild garlic And marsh marigolds We come out of the wood Miserden lamb Staying by mum We climb the tarmac road Into Miserden Where no-one choose THIS seat in the pub And no-one has the Whiskey Soup with Ice Croutons either.
