Monday 18 September 2017 - Coastal path South East Guernsey Previous Next Leaving the bus we follow a wide track downhill Towards the sea Where we pick up the coast path heading East As it meanders along the cliff top Steep climbs and steep descents Some rather nice properties The path stretching out before us Stopping occasionally to take in the view Of small beaches and rocky headlands Bushes swarming with red admiral butterflies Don't think we will be going down there But we stand at the top and look down Should make a good fry-up for breakfast Another small bay And a secluded beach The ultimate beachcomber Our path now running between hedgerows As we drop down to Saints Bay for our morning break Continuing on our way We look back the way we have come Our path takes us past An Abreuveur Et Fontaine Still on the cliff tops Hebe Yet another beach Looking down on Jerbourg Point And an old gun emplacement Herm on the horizon And Sark a distant shadow More steps And a speckled wood (thanks, Angela) We pause on another steep climb To watch the hydrofoil bound for Jersey Then walk round another bay Before dropping down into Fermain Bay Where we stop for tea At a small cafe Our route takes us past a slightly different garden shed As we continue inexorably towards St. Peter Port Past the Clarence Battery Castle Cornet in front of us A sea water pool Another ubiquitous kiosk As we enter the town Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
