Painswick leisurely walk - Monday 13 January 2020 Previous Next All Cloudy and windy, we hope the rain keeps off Patrick leads us up the common Following the Cotswold Way at first There's the golf club house on our right Quarries where the stone for many fine Painswick house came from We divert up the slopes Looking a bit brighter Multi-tasking! Shadows! Not picnic weather today We arrive at the 14th tee overlooking the modern quarry A huge place, look at the door bottom left to get the scale And a huge crane Down to the road And we cross down a steep slope Through some contorted trees A reminder of Janus, facing both ways! We descend Spoonbed hill (and valley) An interesting set of buildings Especially this one Holiday let? Needs some TLC Crossing the fields We reach the thin house And one with pillars Erosion by recent heavy rainfall We pick our way carefully Holcombe Farm With its rare Edward VII postbox (1901-1910) Viburnum bodnantense gives a splash of colour Molly shows us how to cross a stile A house hiding in the trees We read about a Roman Villa No signs on the ground Postman Pat passes We head back up Through the woods to the car park Ann is starting a nature reserve!
