Painswick walk - Wednesday 19 December 2018 Previous Next You might recognise Father Christmas Could that be sun shining on the righteous? At least the sun is shining on Painswick as we look back over the valley Now starting to climb Up Juniper Hill and down the other side Looking up the Dillay Valley You're not getting any of my feed Across the Slad Valley Heading downhill towards the War Memorial Past the rather strange cafe at the bottom With plenty of apparatus for the children to break their necks on And the infamous pond Looking uphill to Steanbridge Farm and the imposing house of racehorse trainer Tom George Slad across the valley Another familiar pond Hope we get back to Exmoor this Christmas Badger posts still going strong although some are slightly faded Haven't seen this one before Walking down the Slad Road, Slad Brook in the valley Swifts Hill now behind us Nearly into Stroud Now a long undulating climb The only mud patch Colin didn't lead us through As purveyor of port Keith is suitably attired Looking down the valley over Stroud Saves getting the bottom dirty Buzzards flying overhead - 6 spotted in all And an Alpaca farm as we head back up the Painswick Valley Looking across to Pitchcombe Church A muddy crossing Karen's feet sinking in the mire But we press on Down to a bridge At least there is some water for it to cross now On through Sheephouse The Painswick Stream gushing down over a weir But things more tranquil higher up Not long before we are retracing our steps uphill to the cars Photos and captions by Richard, uploaded by Sally
