Purton evening walk - Thursday 6 July 2017 Previous Next Purton, and the car park is full of children and kayaks We cross the swing bridge And pass a duck and duckling. Karen and Tony say there were more, but the seagulls have had them Along the tow path An idyllic scene on the canal And the River Severn just the other side of us A swan uses this old boat for a nest, with a grebe as a guard Lovely sky over the river Looking upstream Where the pillars of the old bridge are visible Lots of boats moored at Sharpness The two Severn Crossings in the distance A drink stop - it's very humid Another hulk, away from the majority Here are its details Vetch Don't know what this is, but there are masses of it all along the path A lego-coloured scrapyard of cranes Through the pretty village of Hinton Karen leads us through fields of barley Which appear to stretch right to the river Finally back at Purton church, where Keith takes on a concierge sheep.
