Ravenscar - Day 2 - easier walk Previous Next We're on the North Yorkshire Moors. It's raining a little, but mild, and we look colourful There are tracks And miles of heather We spot this hairy caterpillar Is this a parish boundary, a marker of something, or a gatepost? Sue identified this as Centaury We are fascinated by this little creature. Shouldn't he be much bigger by September? Ann seems happy enough We leave the moors and walk along the May Beck Which is part of the Coast to Coast path We have excellent sandwiches and soup at Midge Hall Where Olivia and Ann model the bunting This is Falling Foss - not so much water in it today We visit the Hermitage, the cave of a hermit. There are various stories about the seat In the afternoon the weather improves and we walk across farmland With the other group way behind schedule because of Di's accident, we shelter from the wind for a while before setting off for the bus* Back across the tracks of the moor Where pylons are being scrapped And the toblerone shape of Fylingdale, the early warning centre, appears on the horizon Photos, captions and uploading by Sally and Sue*
