Rodborough Common walk - Wednesday 22 May 2019 Previous Next We set off from the quarry car park on Rodborough Common for Richard and Di's walk It's a glorious summer's day Across the other side of the valley is the trench for the new water pipe Need to duck in Manor Woods Views to Woodchester We head downhill to Little Britain Farm A Longhorn We make for the stile, unaware of what is lurking in the tree on our left The Bull! Safely out of that field, we continue towards the A46 From our coffee stop we can see the climb ahead of us Past a chestnut tree Uphill past a gate with no fence There's another higher up Looking back we can see where we started And to Amberley Over Selsey Common and heading towards the Austrian-style church Another part of the water pipe trench clearly visible We stop for lunch In a field of buttercups With views to the other side of the bypass Downhill And onto the canal Under a road A lot of sludge on the canal here We stop to look at the cygnet There are 4, but they won't stay together Mike points out Lodgemore Bridge, especially designed for a tricky situation - see link below This must be doing something useful below the retirement complex A clematis by the Lock-keepers cafe Along the canal Looking down on Rodborough and Stroud Then a wooded path back to the car park Photos, captions and uploading by Sally Lodgemore Bridge restoration, overcoming historic problems of the site
