Selsley walk - Saturday 4 January 2020 Previous Next All They all look cold - it's cold. So we set off at a brisk pace Past a happy camper on the common although he seems to be having a lie in And along the driveway of the livery yard Cresting the top of the hill Then making our way round the side of the valley Downhill Tim leads us over an old stone stile Into the vineyard Then down across a driveway into Woodchester Park Down a muddy stepped path And up the other side Towards Windsoredge Reaching the top we pause to take in the view And after coffee head downhill To Dunkirk Mill and the millstream And on to the cycle track Where Tim reminds us of the area's industrial past As we walk along the shared use path (walkers, cyclists and horse riders) With its new surface Complicated graffiti The Nailsworth Stream flows on down Our second coffee stop at the site of the old Woodchester station Then we head uphill through Woodchester Past large old houses Until Bospin Lane takes us to a woodlined path All but the back marker safely over the stile And we continue uphill Following a field path along the edge of Dark Wood Left behind by a horse At the top of the hill Waiting to greet us Signs of life now in the caravan While back at the cars model airplane enthusiasts are getting ready to fly As we take our leave of Tim and thank him for the walk Photos and captions by Richard, uploaded by Sally
