Sherston walk - Wednesday 10 January 2018 Previous Next We gather outside The Angel at Sherston Sheelagh will be leading us As Brian is incapacitated But he tells us about the mud and the slippery stiles Despite this, we set off through Sherston and across flat fields A bit of a delay at a kissing gate onto a road John opens the gate of his estate for us The sun breaks through the mist and it starts to be a lovely day We walk round the edge of a field Past a farm with a manege One of several difficult stiles We wait for everyone to get over Up a slope from the river Past pheasant pens Easton Grey House, a late 18th century house that was a retreat for the Asquiths Colourful foliage That's a better photo Into Easton Grey, Colin back marking The river in full flow I love this little window hanging out over the river Mike prefers the view of the bridge from this side Greenery Further on the river is gushing well Fortunately the bridge is quite a long way above it We get to the area where the Fosse Way crosses the Sherston branch of the River Avon which is a Roman settlement This sketch map shows you more Round the edge of a muddy field Crossing the gallops Who's this? The ghost of our incapacitated leader? We head back into Sherston and the pub. Photos, captions, processing and uploading by Sally
