St. Ives - Day 2 - The Lizard Previous Next All We assemble at the Lizard But where is Colin? SatNav problems send him halfway round Cornwall But at last we are all assembled for Richard's walk And we head along a heather-lined path To the beautiful Kynance Cove Arriving at Kynance cove Our graffiti artist writes in the sand As we climb back up the coast path We stop for a breather Continuing along the coast path Then continue with blue skies and sea on our right The path is easy Another lovely bay Looking back Then Lizard Point is in sight We head on Plants clinging to the cliff I can't remember what Sue told me they were but they are enjoying the sun, like us After lunch we leave the crowds behind Passing "An Azure Window?" - reminiscent of Gozo A pause to add to some impromptu sculptures Then the signal station appears A flat part of the path Leads us to this building Where Marconi in 1900 undertook ground-breaking wireless experiments A canoe below Enjoying the views Then we reach the lifeboat station with this memorial We decline to descend the steps down to it But turn inland into the village Where a real cat lives Beautiful lilies A strange name for a saint But this is his church The inside of the church Totally unaware as S. Cots Ramblers pass on their way back to the start In the evening we eat at the Watermill pub Just down the road, and we return here on Friday.
