Sally and Ros get ready in the car park in Stow on the Wold
We're joined by Ramblers from Stratford, the North Cotswolds and California - Bob and Myjin on holiday in the UK for 10 weeks, who came into Stow to look round the town, saw us in the car park and asked if they could join us!
We set off through the town and down a quiet country road, Sally back marking
Ros leading
Everyone seems happy
A shady path
Leads us into Broadwell
We don't stop for Coffee and Chat
But pose for a group photo by the river
Then set off over the green
Past this memorial erected last year
With its plaque
Past this lovely Georgian house
Into Donnington, past the restored water pump
Over a field to a stile
What are they all looking at?
A beautiful field of linseed
With lovely blue flowers
We walk round the edge of the field
And stop for coffee at the memorial to the Battle of Stow between the Royalists and the Parliamentarians
Though Jill tells us that since the memorial was built it is now believed this was not the site of the battle and it took place "over there"
At the magnificient Donnington Brewery Sally points out .....
..... the resident peacock looking in the window from the top of the staircase.
On through the estate. Good to see Richard doing so well.
And Ron (even though he is trespassing!)
The pace quickens through this immaculate estate
As it is time for lunch
Through Lower Swell where the remnants of a Scarecrow Trail still remain
Across to the idyllic Hyde Mill on the Heart of England Way
Bob and Myjin agree
We head up through a smart equestrian centre, deaf cat not around today (please note, Richard!)
Still Life by Brian
Right near the end of our walk, after a perfect day for walking, it rains
And we head up through Maugersbury into Stow where people disperse into the shops.
