Sunday 17 September 2017 - North East Guernsey Previous Next Guernsey Harbour And in nearby Guernsey Bus Station our travels begin The walk starts near Le Dolmen - our first obstruction a cat crossing We carry on along a Ruette Tranquille To the prehistoric passage grave Where we go inside Must be the Guernsey Unicorn On to Beaucette Marina - man-made by blowing a gap through to the sea A quick look at Beaucette Battery Followed by Fort Doyle with its WW2 gun mounting Chance to walk round the battlements And look up the coast Inspecting some of the WW2 remains Very rocky coast to navigate We leave Fort Doyle And continue along the coastal path Past Fort Marchant Where leader Sam stops to give us information on Guernsey's history Another Martello Tower More coastal walking A break at a Kiosk in L'Ancresse Bay Tides out - a bit of a rainbow but fortunately no rain for us More rocky coastline And another small beach If you don't get shot you will have a model aircraft embedded in your skull Or perhaps drown In a reservoir of oil at Chouet Now walking along Grand Havre Small boats and lots of rocks Tides still out This boat isn't going far We stop for lunch The spire of Vale Church behind us Pink sorrel (thanks, Angela) More small boats And Rousse Tower With an ammunition store Colourful flowers Sally tries a cannon for size A gun's eye view Read all about it Another rocky bay And here we have a pause Waiting for Patrick to be patched up after slipping on the kerb Hottentot fig, we're told Continuing on our way Round a small bay Now watched by a Kestrel Heading to our final destination of Le Grande Roque Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
