Sunday 17 September 2017 - North East Guernsey Previous Next Guernsey Harbour The walk starts near Le Dolmen - our first obstruction a cat crossing To the prehistoric passage grave Must be the Guernsey Unicorn A quick look at Beaucette Battery Chance to walk round the battlements Inspecting some of the WW2 remains We leave Fort Doyle Past Fort Marchant Another Martello Tower A break at a Kiosk in L'Ancresse Bay More rocky coastline If you don't get shot you will have a model aircraft embedded in your skull In a reservoir of oil at Chouet Small boats and lots of rocks This boat isn't going far The spire of Vale Church behind us More small boats With an ammunition store Sally tries a cannon for size Read all about it And here we have a pause Hottentot fig, we're told Round a small bay Heading to our final destination of Le Grande Roque And in nearby Guernsey Bus Station our travels begin We carry on along a Ruette Tranquille Where we go inside On to Beaucette Marina - man-made by blowing a gap through to the sea Followed by Fort Doyle with its WW2 gun mounting And look up the coast Very rocky coast to navigate And continue along the coastal path Where leader Sam stops to give us information on Guernsey's history More coastal walking Tides out - a bit of a rainbow but fortunately no rain for us And another small beach Or perhaps drown Now walking along Grand Havre Tides still out We stop for lunch Pink sorrel (thanks, Angela) And Rousse Tower Colourful flowers A gun's eye view Another rocky bay Waiting for Patrick to be patched up after slipping on the kerb Continuing on our way Now watched by a Kestrel Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
