Tetbury walk - Saturday 28 October 2017 Previous Next Leaving the Old Station CP in Tetbury we cross a stream and head up steps Pounding the streets of Tetbury To reach the fields Where we find a stile which has seen better days - reported by John Through a herd of friendly cows Ready to pass the time of day Continuing in the morning sunshine And Autumn colours As we circle a field Then it's coffee and John hands out cake An interesting cross country jump Harvest over for another year Now heading towards Avening Pausing to examine a new wall Then on into the village where we notice that the Cross Inn is now the Queen Matilda Wonder if someone will say that about me one day Ready for the little children to go walking We stop for lunch in the churchyard First arrivals get the seat The rest making themselves comfortable on tombstones They look set for the day Time to go uphill Jersey Lilies I am told Out of Avening Looking across the valley towards Gatcombe Old mans beard on top of a wall Now on top of the world As we make our way across Towards Chavenage For birds and insects And anything else that flies Perhaps an al fresco bath Now in sunlit woods Soon reaching the road into Tetbury Not sure what we are leaving Should have gone to Specsavers A hard walk and a reminder that not everybody made it Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
