Tetbury walk - Wednesday 1 January 2020 Previous Next All The raised finger indicates the general direction of the walk Must be Ron The old railway carriage now serving as a cafe We leave the old station Although along the path there are reminders of its history Crossing the road we follow the stream Over a stile and into some fields A difficult stile provides some spectator sport While a stone bridge Is followed by a wooden one Entering the open parkland of the Escourt Estate we meet riders on their way to the hunt Cause for some raised eyebrows, but just tradition Some of the Estate buildings We head towards Shipton Moyne Where we are greeted by a familiar sight In search of apple cores Any food will do Through the churchyard Don't see hinges like that these days We walk into the village Not in there, Ray Barn has been around a while One of the entrances to the Escourt Estate A road walk takes us over this stream A stile carefully negotiated The farmer has left a wide track for us to follow And this has been left in the woods for weary Ramblers Garden pond Past a big old house Then on a grassy but muddy track Another use for old horseshoes Trees stand out Entering Tetbury we make good use of the ford And walking poles come in handy Spring not far away? No The church glimpsed in front As we wander through the town, glimpses of christmas everywhere Not sure how he got the name Knitwit Through the market place And down the Chipping Steps Black faced sheep? Striding out back to the cars Photos and captions by Richard, uploaded by Sally
