Thursday 21 September 2017 - Centre of Guernsey Previous Next Back at the bus station. The St Peter Port tourist 'train' has already picked up its first load of cruise ship passengers. The yacht marina Buses ready to go Leaving the bus we spot a large mushroom on the roadside Then another Abreuveure et Fontaine The church of St Andrew of the Apple Orchard - no idea! We could do with a few diddy days Another Guernsey cow Old farmhouse The Little Chapel An entrance All made of pottery fragments Different, I suppose Must be having a meal - plenty of soup in that tureen St Saviours Tunnel. German WW2 munitions dump built under church Not wanted in the pub we take lunch in the St Saviour's parish picnic area A look at the stained glass windows in St Saviour's church Which are very colourful Our walk continues round St Saviour's reservoir On a well made track Through trees Can anyone identify this bird? The dam at the head of the reservoir St Saviour's church on the hill And finally a view of the sea A last look at the reservoir And we find another herd of Guernsey cows The eyes have it This is where a GPS is useful Not quite sure what this is but the flowers are nice Finally we reach the sea - tides out WW2 watch tower Our first sight of Lihou Island under brightening skies Low tide - causeway passable Looking across to the lighthouse The ruins of an old Benedictine Priory We climb up to the middle of the island To look at the North shore Before making our way back across the causeway before the tide beats us to it Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
