A small but enthusiastic group met at Tidenham keen to explore a new area. Peter outlined the walk
We headed to join Offa’s Dyke where Devil’s Pulpit gave a view over Tintern and the Abbey way below
Along the Dyke again
We head through more woodland emerging to a view over the Severn valley
A great coffee stop
We cross the road again and stand at the top of the cliffs at Wintour’s leap. Legend says Sir John Wintour leaped safely off with his horse to escape the Parliamentary forces and survived!
Also views of over Lancaut a former village which may have been a Leper colony
We join the Gloucestershire Way and soon come to the Wye Valley Greenway
With the footpath and cycle way entering a tunnel below us
After a lunch stop we come eventually to Poor’s Allotment
