Tuesday 13 September 2016 - Shorter walk from Llangynidr Previous Next Catherine has come to lead the strenuous walk and Mike is doing the moderate one. A bright morning for the start - anyway up. Off we go along the Brecon canal Approaching the locks at Llangynidr Crossing the Crawnon far below Two narrow boats ready for action Duck or grouse - sorry! Quite an active waterway After a mile we leave the towpath And on to the Usk Valley Walk Which leads gently up the fields With the canal far below Lots of views The sky is looking more watery now An hour passes and we have endured a violent thunderstorm as we near the Talybont reservoir. Some of us decide to take the road down back to the canal for a round walk Whilst the others decide to go on up the road way below the summit of Tor y Foel Up we go We reach the Beacons Way where it crosses the road We plan to follow it down back to the pub Easy going at first Past a farm Amazing misty views Quite eerie We have our lunch standing up as everywhere is saturated Eventually we can see the other side Of the valley The last mist clears And in broad sunshine we make the final descent to the pub, where coffee and cakes are available. All three groups meet up again. Photos, captions, processing and uploading by Mike
