Tuesday 19 September 2017 - Sark Previous Next Assembled at the memorial on the Quayside ready to catch our boat to Sark Which is waiting for us to embark Soon we are sailing out of the harbour Passing the incoming Jersey ferry As we sail past Herm With the island of Jethou now between us and Herm Sark getting closer The island of Brecquhou with its large house Plenty of rocky outcrops as we approach Sark Heading down the coast Past a number of secluded beaches A lighthouse on the cliff As we head for the Harbour Making room for us Our welcome to Sark The easy way to travel But we walk and are soon on top of the cliff looking down on the Harbour And Derrible Bay Passing Sark Henge More beaches to look down on As we wander round the cliff top Until we eventually have our first sight of La Coupee And a schooner in the bay Hydrangea Moving inland Not many stiles on this walk The coastline dropping down to Little Sark As we pause for lunch on a bank With a horse and cart behind us And overlooking the causeway at La Coupee leading to Little Sark Sandy beaches either side We look back to the main island as more of our group look down Chance to pose Even for the camera man Making our way back we pass a fine display of Jersey lilies A post box commemorating the gold medal won by Carl Hester in the Olympics Now time for tea - or lemonade Most enjoyable Another horse and cart waiting for passengers at the crossroads at the far end of the village Print for sale in a shop window The shopping centre Heading back to the boat Should read Farewell to Sark as we leave the island Boat moored under the cliff Tired out after a long hard day But enjoying the sea breeze One still standing Now back in St. Peter Port Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
