Upton St Leonards leisurely walk – Monday 4 December 2017 Previous Next Upton St Leonards with its pictorial sign and spreading tree Mike B is ready to lead us And we set off Through the village Past a photographer's favourite cottage And up the drive towards Bowden Hall A comical weather vane We turn off up towards Nut Hill With a carpet of scrunchy leaves Wow - suddenly a view! A lone flower hanging on Lots of development on the old airfield now called Coopers Edge One more push And we are at the top Views all around Mike tells us this is a nuclear bunker, and in the distance a WW2 defence We head down the other side and spot the monastery Coopers Hill is just round this hillside Wood you believe it! Would you believe it! Nut Hill is quite small, but perfectly formed Better than this muddy corner Worth cleaning I suppose Metal steps stile Mike's local friend (backmarker for today) says this is on the list for repair by the Upton St Leonards volunteer working party A former orchard perhaps Brian advises a local Interesting barn A stile made from recycled plastic we think - very strong! Wait for me We head back to the cars And some of us have lunch at the Birchall Memorial Institute (BMI) Photos, caption, processing and uploading by Mike
