Walks from Dursley 2 Previous Next All Wednesday 1st: In the woods above Dursley we find this shelter The information board at Breakheart Quarry tells us what we can hope to see. And this is what we see! In the distance is the Tyndale Monument Another information board explains the habitat enhancement in progress Moss climbing up young trees At least I think it’s moss We emerge from the Quarry to one of the best views in the area We are not its only admirers Sunday 5th: Looking out from a path at the bottom of Stinchcombe Hill Cam Peak in the distance In the wood the bluebells are just starting to flower Wood Anemones nearby. We climb to the top of Stinchcombe Hill on the sunken lane Where a tree fell in the winter storms The Tyndale Monument Birch tree, still bare after winter Cowslips Stancombe Park Orchid plant but no flowers yet A deserted Stinchcombe Hill golf course Good Friday: The Cross has been put up on top of Cam Peak Downham Hill from Uley Bury We head back towards Dursley through woodland and past the chicken farm Continuing to the sculpture trail with its foxes And a Lion! Tuesday 14th: Lots more bluebells in the woods on Stinchcombe Hill today It’s a good year for them Plenty of wild garlic too Good views from the top Looking out towards the river Sharpness Not much traffic on the M5 today Down at Stancombe Park the trees are turning green Wednesday 15th: The southern side of Cam Long Down is covered with bluebells Their scent is delicious The bare field which was flooded in March is now baked dry Descending from Cam Long Down A last look back on the return to Dursley Photos and captions by Karen and Tony, uploaded by Sally
