Wednesday 14 September 2016 - Shorter walk from Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre Previous Next Heather sets off leading our walk Over the misty moor We are looking forward to a sunny day out Behind us are the high mountains Hardly visible in the morning mist We notice a round barrow ahead Passing a pool Now along an old drove road Starting to descend Through a wood In deep shade A welcome wide bench for our coffee stop We continue downhill Past ancient trees And tiny waterfalls Now a steady climb And a rest at the top before we cross another common Up to Cefn Lechid 400m high A good place to pose And have lunch. Afterwards we pass the pools And continue down a path What are they up to? Derek is encouraging mass murder of jelly babies! Suddenly there is great excitement as we spot a red kite Descending past a farm An M&S supplier! One more up after the down And we are back on the drove road We return back across the common hoping to see Pen y Fan, but there is thicker mist now The end is in sight Looking forward to a nice cup of tea And perhaps a slice of cake Photos, captions, processing and uploading by Mike
