Wednesday 26 April 2017 - Beer, Branscombe and Seaton longer walk Previous Next Having alighted from the bus at Seaton Water Tower we cross the road On a hill overlooking Seaton And head downhill towards a large farm Continung round some earthworks We pass a farm, now unoccupied And head up the valley Looking back as we go Reaching the clifftop above Beer And heading down into the village Bet they terrify the seagulls Following the Coast Path upwards Looking down the coast towards Seaton Now on top of the cliffs Standing in the remains of a Roman settlement And looking along the coastline Before starting to follow a path downhill To the undercliff, an old mine up on the cliff face More cliffs towering above us Would not have liked to be in the way when that boulder fell Different rock strata standing out Going down into Branscombe Mouth Where we stop for lunch - some finding a boat to sit under We continue across the top of the hill above Branscombe Then follow the path downhill Steep in places To cross the stream at the bottom Into the village Nice flowers Need somewhere to hang your coats? £20 seems a bit steep to me Looking behind us as we leave the village An illustrious past Now climbing up Stockham's Hill - note the apostrophe More views of Branscombe The path winds through wild garlic and bluebells Now there is a distinguished sort of a guy A field of white flowers The model train factory of Peco above Beer As we look down on the harbour Took us a while to work this one out but Steve seems to have got the hang of it The Seaton Labyrinth Pot of tea for three or four in Seaton Watched by a seagull And taking in the views along the coast Others getting a bit closer Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
