West Littleton walk - Wednesday 31 August 2016 Previous Next This looks more like France to me than West Littleton We walk through the churchyard And across fields, with the M4 in sight (and sound) An assortment of plants grow here Is this a Still Life, or just a load of Rubbish? Having crossed the busy A46 we look across to Bristol in the distance Views of fields for miles Steep steps to descend Are these strip lynchets? Two fierce guard dogs bark at us, and then the spaniel runs away! There are more animals though This one seems friendly As does Eeyore We're now on the Cotswold Way Colin, our leader, seems pleased with himself It's bang on 11 o'clock for our coffee stop And there is seating for all just outside Dyrham Wish my logs got delivered like that - none of that back-breaking stacking This quirky house is for sale We pass the back gates to Dyrham Park And a local wind vane I remember the Wardens telling me the battle of Dyrham took place here. It was actually in 577AD This is Pylon Country Closed for 11 months now Seems the Environmental incident moved half a mile down the road A straight track takes us back to West Littleton Photos, captions, processing and uploading by Sally
