Wysis Way 2 - Saturday 6 May 2017 Previous Next A cold morning on Windy Ridge. Mike gathers the group together for the second stage of the Wysis Way Yes we are on the right track As we leave Bisley Better be careful A short stretch of road leading through Stancombe Plenty of wild garlic Through a cottage garden And down into the valley Following a narrow path A brief stretch on the Laurie Lee Way As we head to the bottom of the valley And pause while Jill explains the importance of our current path Uphill again Don't think that tractor will be going far Past the cottages used in Cider with Rosie And on the road to Trillgate Watched by the inmates of a racing yard Down into a steep sided valley And up the other side Now at Bulls Cross Where we pause for coffee Overlooking Painswick Continuing downhill More wild garlic Approaching Damsells Farm Where we follow the new permissive path And Mike stops to tell the story of the kissing gate and seat Now climbing up to Paradise Standing on the side of the main road Then through the woods And up Painswick Beacon Where we have views over to May Hill And down the Severn Starting our descent We stop in the shelter of an old quarry for lunch Before continuing down the Beacon Heading for Cud Hill And the Blow Family monument Then on down into the valley Crossing the motorway And on to the golf course Where Keith talks to some cows in the next field A rest before we get ready for the final push A look down over the new motorway service area And down over Gloucester Reaching the top of Robinswood Hill Gathering round the Beacon, Topograph and Trig Point Before heading down into the valley to the car park <Wysis Way 1 Wysis Way 3> Photos and captions by Richard, processed and uploaded by Sally
